Linda Spiwak

Violin/Viola

 

Linda Spiwak has a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from the State University College at Fredonia, NY.  She has been teaching private violin lessons for more than 30 years and presently teaches violin in Vero Beach, Florida.  She was the assistant concertmaster of the Utica Symphony in Utica NY and also a member of the Catskill (NY) Symphony, Schenectady (NY) Symphony, and the Spiwak Family Quartet. In addition to her symphony work, Linda has also played in backup bands for world class entertainers including Wayne Newton, John Denver, Frank Sinatra Jr., Bobby Vinton, Paul Anka, Anne Murray, Connie Francis and Patti Paige. She has also played in pit orchestras for numerous high school and community theater Broadway musical productions.   Linda is currently in the Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra, the Vero Beach Concertante, and the Holy Cross Church Quartet.  She also teaches strings at Master’s Academy.

Thomas C. Fritz

Violin/Viola

BS Music Education

Miami University, Oxford, Ohio

Major: Violin and Voice

 

Mr. Fritz received his BS degree in Music Education in 1962 studying Violin under Adon Foster who received BM and MAS degrees from Eastman School of Music studying under the renowned Russian born Jacques Gordon.   Mr. Fritz is founder of the Indian River County Public Strings program opening with two orchestras at Oslo Middle School in January 1999.  He is co-owner of Fritz Violin Shop and has been teaching privately in Vero Beach since 1997.  His syllabus is traditional classical literature including Carl Flesch, Wohlfahrt, Kayser, Kruetzer, and appropriate solo literature from Suzuki and the classics.  Mr. Fritz is a member of the First Violin Section of the Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra, former member of the American String Teacher’s Association, Music Educator’s National Conference, and holds teaching credentials for Ohio and Florida.  He has been awarded the Superintendent’s Golden Apple Award twice for his outstanding contributions and dedication to the students of Indian River County.  Lessons, available Tuesdays through Thursday at $40/hour payable by the month in advance, are taught privately at Mr. Fritz’s home: 940 48th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida.  Appointments on Mondays or Fridays are by special arrangement only.  Contact number is:  772-801-6245 or email:  tcfritz@mac.com .

 

 

Lenore Peloso

String Bass / Violin

 

Ms. Peloso is a graduate of the School of Performing Arts, New York City where she was a bass performance major.  She studied with Orin O’Brien, bassist with the New York Philharmonic, and Ted Maier, principal bassist with the Buffalo Philharmonic. Lenore received a BS in Music Ed. from SUNY at Fredonia, and M.A from the University of Connecticut.  She is a registered Suzuki Violin teacher as well as a traditional teacher.  She has performed professionally as a bassist in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Her students have received many awards and scholarships, and are music majors at Manhattan School of Music, Berkley College of Music, William and Mary, Penn State, Temple University, and New England Conservatory of Music. Many have been accepted in State and Regional Orchestras, and Governor’s School.  Currently, Ms. Peloso is coaching strings at Vero Beach High School.

Lois A. Scott

Performing Artist, Chicago Musical College

Violin/Viola

Mrs. Scott began studying violin at the age of 6.  At age 16 she was awarded concert artist scholarship, and studied violin for six years at the Chicago Musical College under Leon Samentini, a protégé of the renowned Belgian Virtuoso, Eugene Ysaye.   Concurrently she attended the University of Chicago.  Mrs. Scott made her debut with the Chicago Symphony performing the Mozart Concerto #4 in D Major at the age of 21.  For fifteen years she taught music at Parent Cooperative School, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she started and built the first string program of this middle eastern country.  She took additional courses in Education at Roosevelt University, Chicago; Montana State University, Bozeman; and the University of Arkansas extension in Athens Greece.  She has performed with numerous symphonies including the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, Potsdam Symphony of West Palm Beach, the Space Coast Symphony, and the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.  She was a long standing member of the Nu Art String Quartet, played for the Vero Beach Choral Society, Riverside Theatre, and is currently a member of the Treasure Coast Symphony Orchestra.  Some of her students include: Katie Barth, Adriana Luther, Ian MacKay, Julia Watkins, Michael Manganelli, Manhar Dalal, Justin Lamothe, Alison Todd, and Jeffrey Suen, Lessons, available Tuesday through Saturday at $40/hour payable by the month in advance, are taught privately at Mrs. Scott’s home: 891 22nd Place, Vero Beach, Florida.  Contact number is:  772-562-2178 .

 

 

 

Fran Alibrio-Curran

Violin / Viola / Cello / Guitar

Serenading Strings

 

A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, Ms Alibrio-Curran taught strings, orchestra and general music, 5th grade chorus for 26 years in Massachusetts.  She holds a Masters of Music degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and is highly proficient on violin and viola.  Lessons are offered on all string instruments including violin, viola, cello and guitar.  Her most recent performing experience was as Principal Violist for the Parkway Orchestra in Westwood Massachusetts under the direction of Larry Issacson.  This orchestra accompanied a chorus and soloists from a University in Italy which came to Boston to celebrate Italian Heritage Month in October 2004.  The University Chorus performed selections from Italian Opera and Italian Folk Songs and was recorded for Italian Television.  Her Master’s Degree Thesis was entitled “Using Improvisation with the Middle School Orchestra to prevent attrition.”  Lessons cover all musical styles from Medieval, Baroque, Classical, Romantic Periods to Folk, Jazz, and show tunes.  She has written many arrangements over the years for her own school orchestras of popular tunes including the Beatles, the song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” (Charlie Daniels Band), the theme from Titanic and many others.

 

 

 

JOACHIM BISCHOF

Cello

 

Joachim is a master cellist from Germany.  He has an extensive background on the cello, piano, pedagogy and psychology.  He has taught and performed over the past 30 + years with several internationally renowned orchestras in Berlin, Budapest and Japan.  Several chamber and solo recordings have been made featuring his work of which he has also received international prizes.  Since moving to Florida he has enjoyed teaching full studios both in Vero Beach and with “Bach’s Children,” a strings studio in Stuart, FL.

Richard Ballinger –Viola/Violin

 

Richard started playing the viola when he was 12 years old.  He attended Florida Southern College where he studied under the direction of Arthur Pranno.  After graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree he began teaching privately on the Treasure Coast.  He is now the assistant director of the IRC Public School Orchestra Program where he has more than 120 string students.  Richard came to Vero Beach in 2004 after teaching privately and directing youth orchestras in Stuart, Florida. He has performed in and as a soloist with several orchestras throughout the state of Florida including the Imperial Symphony Orchestra and the Indian River Pops. Richard is currently violist and co-founder of the Ocean String Quartet with his wife Nicole.

 He has select spots available for viola.

Nicole Ballinger – Violin

 

Nicole has been performing for 20 years and started learning the violin at 6 years old.  She studied for several years under the direction of John Edwards, Cindy Nordstrum and other teachers in Rhode Island.  After her move to Florida she was re-introduced to music performance with her husband Richard. She has performed with several chamber groups and community orchestras, among them the Indian River Pops.  She also has co-founded and is the event coordinator for the Ocean String Quartet.  She also       enjoys teaching strings to beginning and intermediate students at their home based studio in Vero Beach.

Jeni Goldsmith

Violin
